Outfit Post - Teal Jeans & Beads

I am a bit obsessed with my teal skinny jeans at the moment, they're just so comfy and I love the colour!  I am also particularly loving the combination of teal and hot pink!  This time I dressed it up a little with my hot pink T-bar wedges (a bargain £24.49 in the Aldo sale).

Out with the old, in with the new!

Just a quick post today as I've been super busy getting organised for the next meeting of Glasgow Baking Club tonight!  This time, I am hosting so I've been frantically trying to tidy the flat, finish unpacking (ahem, yes we got back a week ago!), bake my cake and be prepared with soft drinks, etc.  It's been a busy week back with blogging, screen printing and being back at work but I feel like I'm now on top of things again.

Anyway, this post is just a quick account of my favourite hair product, my GHD straighteners!  I first bought a pair of these after trying some out when I was a student, 9 years ago and have been using them ever since! They've lasted me well but the wire was starting to go and the heat proof mat (bought separately on ebay) had definitely seen better days!

They've done me well but it was about time I got a new set and what a coincidence that I had been recently coveting the new limited edition peacock collection which comes in blue, purple and GREEN!  I had been planning on investing in a set of the green ones when I got back from holiday but when I spotted them in duty free with £20, plus a £10 duty free voucher burning a hole in my pocket (the plan was to buy wine for the holiday!) I figured it was fate!  So.... tadaaaah...

These new ones come in such a heat proof bag a divider for the cable and is attached (but detachable) to the heat proof mat with the beautiful peacock feather design on the back and they also have a cover for the hot end of the utensil for when you're finished.  They are also much lighter and sleeker with gorgeous green plates and they beep when they're hot enough to use which is also infinitely quicker than my previous old model!  I've been told they also have a safety cut off and will switch themselves off after a certain amount of time so never again will I have those thoughts on the train of 'Did I turn them off!?'

Does anyone use GHDs?  I find they're the only thing that really tames my hair as I'm useless at blowdrying!  These really sort out the frizz and kinks in my hair.  I love them!

I've written another post for AOW!

Yep, this time it's all about the friends that made me who I am today.  Go and have a peek, now!  :)

Outfit Post - Holiday style

I really wanted to look glam on this holiday as I didn't really get the chance on honeymoon due to our weight restriction of 15kg including hand luggage!!  This time I went to town on all my dresses, outfits and accessories for our time in Italy!  :)

This outfit is one of my favourites.  You all know how much I love my coral skirt from Mango and here it is again styled slightly differently but still with my fab Primark tan belt cinching in the waist.

This time I wore it with a Missoni style top from H&M (which I can't find on-line but is the vest version of this) and my turquoise clutch from Accessorize.  I also wore my coral earrings from Lori's Shoes, bangles from AccessorizeCarvela gold wedges and H&M cardi later in the evening.

It's just so swooshy I can't help myself!

Outfit post - Teal & Pink

Sometimes when you get back from holiday you can't quite bear to give up those summery feelings and outfits, even especially when it's rainy and depressing!  On Thursday I was determined to dress happy (which actually turned out to be quite practical in the rain as opposed to long dragging jeans or trousers).

Jeans - Warehouse
Print vest (underneath) - Red Herring
Pink knitted vest - old (Koton - purchased abroad)
Cardigan - H&M
Belt - Accessorize
Watch - Guess
Bracelets - Various
Espadrille wedges - Schuh

I also wore my new necklace bought in a boutique in Sorrento.

Oh and I got my hair cut again with more layers this time :)

Screen Printing Workshop

On Saturday Roz and I went along to Bespoke Atelier we had booked with itison for a bargain £25 for a 5 hour workshop.

A five hour beginners’ textile workshop with the experts at Bespoke Atelier at The Glue Factory where you’ll learn a variety of techniques from creating stencils to using a silkscreen to produce your own tote bag

It was situated in an old glue factory in the north of Glasgow in a huge open plan studio.  Our teachers, who met at art school and run the business together, have created an excellent way to learn a new skill.  They made it so much fun but were very informative and keen to share their knowledge to help you make something beautiful.  The girls were so enthusiastic and helpful, time just flew past and we were sad to have to go at the end of the day.

We had SUCH an amazing time we have already booked to go back next week for the 2 day intermediate course!!  We had been told we could bring some of our own fabric to make some more items other than the bag so Roz and I made a quick stop at Mandors on the way and managed to pick up some great fabrics for more bags and cushions.  We managed to make so many prints in the 5 hours and can't wait to sew them into the final products but we have loads left for when we go back to make more.

The course was really well organised and even though there were around 12 of us on the day, there was plenty of space and everyone was so keen and really enjoyed making up designs and helping each other out. It was a great atmosphere and our wonderful teachers were always on hand with hints and tips or to lend a hand if required.

We soon moved on to our fabric to start making patterns for cushions and had great fun coming up with different designs.  I was a bit predictable and boring and just did lots of different dragonfly designs as I love them so much but Roz made a few fantastic different ones with thistles, hearts and stripes and borrowed my dragonfly template which seemed to be popular :)

I decided to do a design with different sizes of dragonflies on a cushion for the study and drew around some dragonfly magnets I have.

For my included tote bag I tried a design I saw someone else do with elephants with one being lighter than the other but decided to overlap them.

I also made a bright coral piece with 4 grey dragonflies to make in to a bag and a white piece with an experimental teal dragonfly which was supposed to be ombre and turned out more tie-dye style but I love it!

Roz and I are already planning what to make next time (I have a gorgeous piece of grey fabric to make a scarf covered in dragonflies as we can do repeating patterns next time) and a day of sewing to turn all of our prints into stunning bags and cushions to adorn us and our homes!
