About

Bex is mum to adorable boy/girl twins, Kalyan & Priya and lives in the beautiful Sussex countryside with her very patient husband, Nik.  She's a little obsessed with photography, necklaces and her twins but has many other varied interests too and loves to write about them all and share cool places she discovers.

The twins aged 8 months

Bex and Nik moved from Glasgow to Uckfield in East Sussex in 2014 when Bex was 6 months pregnant with the twins following IVF treatment, since then things have been a little quieter around here with sporadic blogging due to the adorable bundles taking up much of Bex's time.  It was a massive adjustment moving from a big city with a thriving social life to a semi-rural village, knowing no-one and with two babies to keep alive!  Recently though, things have become easier with Bex finding time for herself again and making some wonderful local friends who help to keep her sane!

Olive Dragonfly is so named after Bex & Nik's wedding colour scheme and theme, since Bex loves olive green and dragonflies.  After starting Olive Dragonfly blog in 2011 to document her wedding plans and keep her ex-pat parents up to date, Bex kept writing as she loved to share her home style, her fashion sense, art & craft tutorials and ideas, her photographs and being a massive foodie, recipes and restaurant reviews.  Since having the twins she's also enjoying sharing things about their family life in Sussex, fun activities and places to go with the twins, along with their toddler style, her "best bits" about being a mum to her two gorgeous little humans and of course, plenty of photos (often of them being cheeky).

Bex loves to keep busy and while working part-time and writing the blog part-time she also runs Uckfield Baking Club, is on the Uckfield WI committee and runs both a book club and brunch club with friends.  She also has a photography business, Bexphoto.com, and blog to showcase her best photos, both the newer lifestyle photographs and her older landscapes and nature.  She's also developed an interest in food and event photography which works well with the blog as she's recently been invited to photograph some local festivals and businesses.

Contributors:

Olive Dragonfly also features guest writers from time to time with a couple of regular ones sharing their home transformations with us.  Amy recently moved into a beautiful pink house in Essex and has been sharing some room makeovers with us.  I've known Amy for a few years now and she's recently started a photography business.  You can see some of the wonderful photos she took of the twins' first birthday here.  Having stayed at each other's homes before, I can honestly say I love Amy and James' style, it's very eclectic but stylish and fun.  I can't wait to see what they do with their new place!  Also, didn't she make a stunning bride??

Another is one of Bex's best friends, Roz whom she met after tweeting about a screen printing class she'd booked.  Roz also fancied trying it so they decided to go together.  They hit it off and have been firm friends ever since.

Roz started writing for the blog in January 2013, documenting the amazing transformation of her stunning 5 storey Glasgow townhouse among a few other posts about food and wine.  Roz is mum to gorgeous 3 year old Aaron and 1 year old Emily so she's been taking a break from blogging but you can keep up to date with her on Instagram.

We also have another new guest writer joining the team in 2018.  Stu is a local Dad who loves to cook and he'll be sharing a few of his favourite recipes on the blog soon!
